Leading the way in health and safety

We have achieved the highest possible rating in the British Safety Council’s (BSC) Occupational Health and Safety Audit – making Aspire Housing the only UK housing association to currently hold a five-star grade.

Aspire Housing is one of only five UK housing associations to achieve five stars since 2014 and is the only one of which to currently hold the grading. The result demonstrates our commitment towards the continual improvement of its health and safety management systems and associated arrangements.

Lisa McCaulder, Health & Safety Consultant at Caldiston Ltd, has worked with Aspire to achieve the grade. Lisa said: “A five-star rating and a score of 97% in such a comprehensive audit is nothing short of amazing and we’re delighted with the result. The one outstanding comment from the audit was how great the health and safety culture is at Aspire, and I couldn’t agree more.”

Ian Gleave, Executive Director of Organisational Development, commented: “We’re extremely proud of the health and safety culture we’ve created across we are aspire. The safety of our colleagues and customers is of the utmost importance to us and we’re absolutely delighted to be recognised with a five-star rating.”

David Parr, Policy and Technical Services Director at the British Safety Council, said: “The award of a five-star grading following our occupational best practice Health and Safety Audit is an outstanding achievement and is reflective of a proactive organisation which is committed to continual improvement in its health and safety arrangements and managing risks to workers’ health, safety and welfare.

“We are aspire should be very proud of this achievement.”

The British Safety Council Five-Star Occupational Health & Safety Audit is more advanced than the standard certification, involving a comprehensive, quantified and robust evaluation of its occupational health and safety policies, processes and practices.

The audit is revised every year to ensure that UK businesses continue to improve their health and safety practices and adapt to a changing work environment.
